"I drove an ox team, a horse and buggy, and now we’re flying in the air, that’s quite an accomplishment for me!”

Dear Friends of Boulder Airport,
I took my first training flight at the Boulder Airport in 1959 that led to USAF pilot training, ten years in the Colorado Air National Guard, 42 years in sailplaning, and a 36 year pilot career at United Air Lines. It all started right here

Dear Friends of Boulder Airport,
I am recently retrained from the B-777 to the B-747-400 and am flying to the Pacific Rim countries for United Airlines. I did my training at the Boulder Airport. I flew glider tows to build flight time to help qualify me for this job. I am forever grateful for the training and experience I gained at the Boulder Airport. Thank you

The Boulder Airport is a magnificent kaleidoscope of individuals coming together to pursue the educationally enriching activity of flying. Located in an area where weather, terrain, and air traffic are unique, a pilot here such as myself is offered opportunities seldom found together anywhere else in the world. Having flown in many locations worldwide, and wishing to learn to fly, the Boulder Airport provided an opportunity for me by offering soaring (gliding) activities which led to further experience up to and including my own corporate aircraft used in a business in the outdoor industry. It is a very unique place.
